You’ve heard it. You’ve seen it. You know it.
Twitter marketing is real marketing. It’s just a new kind of marketing. Technically not new, since it’s been around for quite some time now, but new to some.
In this post, I’m going to give you a few tips to get you on the right track when using twitter for marketing. In no particular order, here they are:
1. Be Conversational
Twitter is a conversation space. It’s like a conversation with the world, if you will. So, no posting, especially a question, and then check again in 4 hours. Talk to people. Build relationships with them. Talk to them, about THEM!
2. Do NOT Automate!
Automation gives your twitter account zero personality. It builds the reputation of a faceless promoter. Yes, you want to post the most relevant links from your blog, promotion links (sparingly), and cool things you find around the internet, but you’ll also want to post tweets with no links at all. This requires you to actually type out the tweets.
3. Answer your Mentions
This is very important! When a follower asks a question, answer it! If you don’t, I guarantee someone else will, and that person will never ask you again. Now, there’s no need to answer irrelevant or obnoxious tweets to you. It will happen and you’ll recognize it immediately.
4. Follow Relevant People
If your niche is health & wellness/weightloss, follow the big names. For example, you might follow someone like Chalene Johnson. Whatever you niche is, follow the people that are the ‘household names’ of that area of interest. Simple!
5. NO Begging!
Pretty self explanatory, but let me say this: The ‘no-begging’ rule applies to everything. No begging for followers, retweets, purchases, looks, votes, clicks. Nothing!
6. Be You
Although it may be your ‘business’ account, no one wants to read tweets that are all about one thing. Let people know about your non-business side. What you do on weekends. What you cook for dinner on a random Wednesday. Keep it balanced, as you should do with everything.
To Your Success & With Love,
